HNZ DEVELOPMENT 

The following HNZ Development positions are available as short term roles to support Head Coaches Greg Nicol and Bryce Collins with the performance and development of the NZ U21 Women and NZ U21 Men Teams. These positions will be placed temporarily to compete in the previously announced 2018 U21 International competitions; The NZ U21 Men Sultan Johor, Malaysia and NZ U21 Women Trans-Tasman, New Zealand.

NZ U21 Men
Sultan Johor Cup  |   1st – 14th October

 U21 Men Assistant Coach

  • Support the Head coach to ensure a hockey-led, coach-driven, athlete-focussed programme
  • Monitor and evaluate athlete performance and maintain relevant data to ensure standards are met and potential is maximised
  • Establish necessary communication channels with Hockey New Zealand, support staff, selectors, players and personnel outside of Hockey New Zealand to effectively monitor the progression of identified players.
  • Support the Head coach with the coaching and preparation of the players prior to and during the tour

U21 Men Manager

  • Assist the Head Coach and Team Services Manager to ensure a well organised and effectively managed Tour
  • Organisation and managerial role of the overall group (athletes and staff) during the competition
  • Assist with monitoring and evaluating athlete performance
  • Ensure team communication and overall team continuity
  • Financial management, as required

U21 Men Analyst

  • Provide high quality performance analysis services, capture, prepare and analyse video and data pre, during and post competition
  • Use objective data and information to enhance the coaching process, impact decisions and improve performance
  • Support the use of analysis as an everyday mechanism for strengthening coaches and athletes performance

U21 Men Physiotherapist

  • Physiotherapist to the NZ Under 21 Team for the duration of the 2018 Tour
  • Prepare prior to camp information. Collate appropriate medical and screening information from the U21 players, include existing information from HNZMC and new collection process
  • Collate any significant injuries of athletes and discuss with HNZMD and HNZMC for actioning of a treatment plan

 Essential Qualifications
- Registered member of the New Zealand Society of Physiotherapists (NZSP)
- Must be a current holder of an Annual Practising Certificate (APC)

Training Camp (October 8-12) and Trans-Tasman  (November 25-December 3)

OTAGO HOCKEY

Otago Hockey Association: Pathway Manager 
 
Otago Hockey through its affiliation to Hockey New Zealand is responsible for the administration, development and promotion of hockey in Otago. 
 
Otago Hockey is committed to providing quality experiences and opportunities to participants and supporters of all ages, gender and level of ability. 
 
The Pathway Manager will play a critical role in ensuring that Otago Hockey delivers a professional hockey experience that ensures continued development of hockey capabilities amongst pathway athletes, coaches and umpires. 
 
Success in this important role for Otago Hockey will see the establishment of a programme that offers well delivered  age and stage appropriate opportunities for athletes, coaches and umpires as they move along the pathway of participation, talent id, talent confirmation and high performance.   
 
Relationships with Hockey New Zealand and other Associations in our area to ensure that opportunities are available to all, and that our programme fits with the national strategy will be crucial. 
 
To be successful in this role you will:    
 
• Understand and be passionate about the sport of Hockey
• Have a strong work ethic and be highly organised
• Have significant experience in developing coaches and athletes within a performance programme 
• Know what it takes to work with youth in sport 
• Come with proven experience in planning and facilitating programmes.  
• Be innovative and insightful by nature 
• Be a people leader with fantastic communication and presentation skills

Otago Hockey – Two Board Positions & Treasurer  

The Otago Hockey Board consists of six elected members in addition to the President and Treasurer. Due to the resignation of two elected members and the Treasurer who is moving overseas the board is looking to Co-opt members through until the next AGM in March. 

Expressions of interest are sought from individuals looking to join the board through until the AGM and then present themselves to the membership as longer term options. 

Otago Hockey is seeking applications from professionals with: 
  • Proven experience as a director and / or senior executive who have and understand highly effective governance skills. 
  • Relevant experience and expertise in one or more of accounting/finance, legal, community sport, performance programmes or commercial relationships is desirable 
  • Knowledge of Hockey is desirable but not essential 

The Otago Hockey Board meets a minimum of 10 times a year with most meetings taking approximately two hours. 

Board members of Otago Hockey undertake this role in a volunteer capacity.
