NZ Beach Hockey Championships

Mount Maunganui is playing host to the annual NZ Beach Hockey Championships on January 19th 2019. This will be the seventh time that this event has run and teams will be competing for the grand prize of the Giant Jandal. This event is going to be an amazing way to spend a weekend in the hot summer months.

2019 Coach Developer Pilot

In 2019 Hockey New Zealand will be introducing a Coach Developer Pilot. Aligned with the Sport New Zealand Coach Developer model. Coach Developer focuses on the building a network of developers to enhance the quality of support and opportunities for coaches.

Brett and Mark Leaver Inducted to Otara Sports Hall of Fame

Brett Leaver played 157 times for the NZ Men's Black Sticks Hockey side while his brother mark played 42 times. Both have been inducted into the Otara Sports Hall of Fame. 

Brett Leaver stated "I'm truly humbled and honored to receive this recognition as a proud Otara boy. I look forward to celebrating with Mark and our family and community at the awards. 

Brett and Mark were fantastic hockey players who demonstrated some outstanding skills and were tough competitive players.
