The Central Under 18 Women have capped off a remarkable three season run with their third Vantage National Under 18 Women’s title in a row. Taking on current Black Stick Katie Doar and her Auckland side, Central was desperate to turn the tables from their loss to Auckland earlier in the competition. Central were led on the goalscoring sheet in the final by Vantage Black Sticks Development player Kaitlin Cotter who scored two goals in the final. Younger sister Hannah Cotter sealed the win in the 56thminute with Centrals third goal of the match.
Canterbury would go on to take the Bronze Medal in the competition after defeating the hometown side Capital 3-1 in the third-place playoff.
Kaitlin Cotter backed up her top goal scorer from the 2018 Ford NHL tournament with another goalscoring clinic throughout the week ending the tournament with 11 goals, the next closest to her was Capitals Ruby Baker who scored five goals.
2019 Vantage National Under 18 Tournament Women – Final Placing

Canterbury have taken out the Vantage National Under 18 Men’s tournament with a hard fought 2-1 win in the final. Canterbury came into the final match as red hot favourites having beaten Central 4-1 in pool play. Central however battled all the way through the match. In the end it was a 32ndminute goal to Hayden Cox that proved the difference maker between the two sides.
Auckland would complete the podium with a shootout win over North Harbour after the two sides couldn’t be separated during regulation time.
Canterbury’s Lucca Burley would finish as the tournaments leading goal scorer in his first tournament in the Canterbury colours. Midlands drag flickers Connor Garner was second on the goal scoring chart with seven goals for the week.
