Bayleys Midlands have named their sides for the 2019 Ford NHL, both their Men’s and Women’s sides have a great mix of youth and experienced players. Playing in front of their home crowd in the 2019 Ford NHL the Bayleys Midlands teams will be hoping the hometown support will help lift them to the 2019 titles.

Bayleys Midlands have named an incredibly strong side for the 2019 Ford NHL which features 11 players with international experience for the Vantage Black Sticks Women. They will be led by experienced internationals Sam Charlton with 242 caps and Gemma McCaw with 246 caps for the Vantage Black Sticks. The last time that Bayleys Midlands was able to name such a strong side was in 2017 when they would go onto capture the K Cup. Last year’s side would finish with the bronze medal and the 2019 team will have lofty aspirations of another title run.

In their first match Bayleys Midlands will take on Capital as they will be aiming to get their campaign started in a positive fashion, they will then follow this up with matches against two sides with plenty of international talent to call on in Northland and Central. Getting through this pool will be tough for all the sides but the Bayleys Midlands Women look to be in a strong position to top their pool.

The Bayleys Midlands Men have named a young side for the 2019 Ford NHL. Looking to build on their 2018 campaign that saw the side finish in sixth place, several of the squad have now had NHL experience and coach Mark Borges will be looking for his side to make massive strides in the 2019 campaign. The 2019 side features only one players with Black Sticks experience in their captain Matt Rees-Gibbs, however there is several up and coming stars in the side who will be looking to impress for national selection later in the year.

Bayleys Midlands will face off against a strong Canterbury side in their first match of the competition, the last time these two sides met Canterbury managed to squeeze out a 3-2 win in the early rounds of the 2018 Ford NHL. The competition doesn’t get any easier for the team in orange when they then take on North Harbour and Southern in what is looking like an incredibly tough pool.
