Southern Coach Clive Daniels stated the sides goals for 2018 “We are definitely aiming for the top four. Having guys like Nick Elder and Kieran O’Connor having represented the Vantage Black Sticks is going to be big for us”

To say that the past few seasons have been tough for the Southern Storm is an understatement, the team is currently in a 26 game losing streak that dates back to 2015. 2019 looks to be the year that Southern can break this streak and start to put together some strong performances. The Southern Storm pushed Canterbury all the way in a pre season match before eventually falling 2-1, despite the loss the Southern Women will take plenty of positives out of the performance.

14th September 12:30pm vs North Harbour

15th September 11:45am vs Auckland

16th September 3:30pm vs Canterbury

The Southern Storm will begin their campaign like the Southern Dogs against a strong North Harbour side who took out the 2018 title and look to return the majority of that side in 2019. They will then go onto play Auckland and Canterbury as they aim to make the top four for the first time in more than five years.

2018 Final Placing: 8th
