Capital Cobras look to defend their title

The Men’s defending champion Ricoh Capital Cobras have named their side to defend the Challenge Shield. The side features a large portion of the 2018 champions returning for another tilt at the shield. They will be joined in Tauranga by the Ricoh Capital Women who will be looking to improve on last year’s sixth place finish and will be led by rising Vantage Black Sticks star defender Megan Hull.

The young Ricoh Capital Women finished the 2018 Ford NHL in a disappointing 6th place, the team has several players returning in 2019 as the team looks to improve on the 2018 performance. Capital defender Megan Hull has been a revelation for the Vantage Black Sticks Women throughout 2019 season and will look to continue her fine form for the Capital side. The side also features several players who have been named in the New Zealand U21 side and they will be looking to impress throughout the week as they attempt to put their hand up for selection.

The 2019 Ford NHL was another successful campaign for the competitions most successful Men’s side Capital. The Ricoh Capital Cobras have been lucky to name an outstanding team again to defend their title. The squad features several players in Daniel Harris, Blair Hilton, Jacob Smith, Harry Miskimmin and Dane Lett who have had recent international experience for the Vantage Black Sticks Men. Rising starts who in Sajan Patel, Liam Mortimer and Jordan Cohen will lead what looks like a formidable Capital team who will be aiming for back to back titles.
