Our High Performance & Pathway Strategy for 2024-2032

We’re on a mission to build a new national high-performance and pathway system that delivers a legacy of Black Sticks success and public engagement.

This can only happen with leadership throughout the New Zealand hockey community.

So where to first?

From now until the end of 2024, we’re accelerating the development of five strategic areas:

  1. REGIONAL HIGH PERFORMANCE MODEL

  2. DOMESTIC PATHWAY COMPETITIONS

  3. ATHLETE COMPETENCY FRAMEWORK

  4. TALENT IDENTIFICATION AND DEVELOPMENT

  5. FUTURE BLACK STICKS COACHING PLAN

This block of work is called Hiki Tū, embracing the the hockey community in New Zealand and asking everyone to ‘lift where you stand’.  It’s inviting our respective areas to be part of building momentum for lasting change.

We need the minds of everyone to make collective change. Whether you’re a player (current or past), family member, coach, official, or just a big fan of the sport, we want to hear from you all.  Everyone has a voice at this table.  Don’t miss out on being part of the change.

Application to be part of a working group has now closed, however if you would like to be part of a consultation group please contact Michelle Hollands at michelle@freshminds.nz.

How can you get involved?
