Women Ready for the 2025 FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup
Final preparations are underway for the New Zealand Women’s Indoor Hockey team’s attendance at the FIH World Cup in Croatia.
Lead by Head Coach Gaye Tarrant, the team will attend their 2nd consecutive FIH Indoor World Cup. The cup, being held in Poreč, Croatia from February 3rd to the 9th will bring together 12 of the best men’s and women’s indoor nations.
Innovation has been at the forefront of getting the selection process completed as Indoor has worked around its own national championships and navigated the outdoor programs.
There have been national team camps bringing players and coaches from across New Zealand and Australia together to compete for World Cup team places. National tournaments were held in December 2024 and the World Cup Team squad competed against some of the men’s age group teams as part of their build up.
New Zealand initially missed qualification after losing a tight Oceania qualifier to Australia. A spot opened due to a withdrawal and, based on its performances over the previous 3 years, New Zealand were offered, and accepted the opportunity to head to Croatia. The competition will be tough with the best of Europe in attendance. Along with Trans-Tasman neighbours and the emerging African nations, New Zealand wants to show there’s depth across the world in this fast-growing sport.
Indoor Hockey New Zealand are proud of the partners who have come on board to support the 2025 World Cup dream. SGS joined the campaign in late 2024 and John Turkington Forestry continues its support of the national women’s Indoor Hockey team.
