2024 Community & Service Award Winners Named
On Saturday 7th December the 2024 Community & Service Awards were held to celebrate the outstanding contributions and dedication of individuals and organisations within our hockey community that help drive our sport forward.
Hockey New Zealand are excited to share the nominees and recipients with you as follows:
Outstanding contribution to coaching: This award celebrates coaches who have made a significant impact on players, officials, and fellow coaches through their leadership, knowledge, and passion for the game.
Winners - Joe Hanks & Wade Manson
Club of the year: This award acknowledges clubs that have demonstrated excellence in management, community engagement, coaching, and development, and have made a significant impact on the growth of hockey.

Volunteer of the year: Recognizing those who have given their time selflessly and their energy to support our schools, clubs, and associations in an on and off-field capacity.

Outstanding young person of the year: Recognizing young individuals who have shown remarkable commitment and contribution to their community through playing, umpiring, coaching, or managing hockey.
Finalists - Bree Thompson, Hunter Cumming
Winner - Bree Thompson
Community umpire of the year: Honouring umpires who have shown exceptional dedication and service within their communities, playing a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and spirit of the game.

Bronze Service Award :The Bronze Service Award is given for Outstanding service to hockey through Affiliated Associations and other recognised national entities that serve Hockey in New Zealand for between 15 and 19 years.

- Luke Rutherford of Tauranga Hockey Association
Silver Service Award: The Silver Service Award is given for Outstanding service to hockey for between 20 and 24 years.

Gold Service Award: The Gold Service Award is given for Outstanding service to hockey for 25+ years.
