Cape Town Masters Wraps Up

The conclusion of the 2024 Masters Hockey World Cup in Cape Town has yielded mixed results for the New Zealand teams.

The Men's Over-35 and Men's Over-40 teams both had opportunities to secure podium finishes but unfortunately lost their 3rd and 4th place playoff matches. The Men's Over-35s bowed out against a strong Australian side, falling 3-2, while the Men's Over-40s faced a tough defeat to England, losing 6-3.

Over on the Women’s side on a positive thread, the Women's Over-35 team concluded their World Cup campaign on a high, finishing 5th after defeating a determined Scottish side 3-1 in a penalty shootout, following a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

Overall, although the New Zealand sides didn't come away with medals, the tournament offered invaluable experiences and showcased a commendable level of performance from all teams.
