Premier Hockey League Finals Day Details
It all comes down to one day. This Saturday 7th December at North Harbour Hockey Stadium in Auckland.
The Premier Hockey League, New Zealand's elite domestic hockey competition, is set to conclude this weekend with a classic day of finals hockey. The League which features the best players from across the country, consists of four men's and four women's teams, each representing different regions of New Zealand:
Falcons – representing the Central North Island
Mavericks – representing Waikato, Bay of Plenty, and Taranaki
Tridents – representing Auckland and the upper North Island
Alpiners – representing the South Island
Among the eight teams, there are 25 Black Sticks men and 19 Black Sticks women, ensuring a high level of competition.
The League provides an important step in New Zealand's hockey pathway, offering up and coming players the chance to not only compete at the highest level domestically but also be given the opportunity to compete for a spot on the National Team. It also gives fans across the country the opportunity to see the best hockey New Zealand has to offer live, with matches played each weekend for the past six weeks all over the country. Designed to engage both spectators and aspiring players, each day has offered an exciting family-friendly day out.
The Finals are set to take place this Saturday 7th December at North Harbour Stadium in Auckland and is set to be a full day of excitement for fans. One ticket gets fans access to four games of hockey.
The Men’s gold medal final will see the Alpiners take on the Falcons in what will be a hopefully close match with the tournament’s top goal scorers facing off. Sam Lane of the Alpiners (10 goals) and Dylan Thomas of the Falcons (8 goals) will both be hoping they're attacking prowess thus far will ensure their side takes gold.
The Women’s gold medal match will be between home team the Tridents and the Falcons. The Falcons have been the tournament favourite, coming into the finals with a comfortable 8 point lead on the overall table.

• 15:15 - Men’s Bronze Medal Match - Tridents vs Mavericks

• 19:15 - Men’s Gold Medal Match - Falcons vs Alpiners
